Monadelphous has recently announced that it has secured new construction contracts in the resources sector with a combined value of about $220 million in aggregate.
The first is a major multidisciplinary construction contract from BHP, which is for works associated with the Jimblebar Train Loadout Replacement Project – part of the Jimblebar operations about 40 kilometres east of Newman in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
Under this contract, Monadelphous’s civil business Melchor will be undertaking the vertically integrated scope of works, including earthworks and civil works. Meanwhile, the company’s fabrication business will be carrying out structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation works.
These works are expected to be completed in late 2027.
The second contract was awarded by Fortescue and it is for the construction of the North Star Junction Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).
This project will support Fortescue’s commitment to decarbonising its Pilbara operations, and it will stand alongside the North Star Junction Solar Farm that’s already operational.
The works – located about 140 kilometres south of Port Hedland in Western Australia – are anticipated to be completed in the first half of next year.
