Queensland’s Jindalee is set to have a second river crossing on the Centenary Motorway with tenders for detailed design for the project released to market.

The State Government has invested approximately $20 million to fast track the delivery of a business case as well as technical investigations and the detailed design.

“Ultimately, this is about improving traffic flow and easing congestion on the Centenary Motorway so motorists can get home sooner.

“It’s also about supporting jobs for Queenslanders through building the infrastructure we need,” Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said.

This tender will involve the design of a new three-lane northbound bridge with works to include geotechnical and environmental investigations and service relocations.

“This is a project that will bust congestion and improve traffic flow on this critical stretch of road.

“The detailed design tender is expected to be awarded in the coming weeks and is another important step in the planning process for improvements to the Centenary Motorway,” Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said.

Works on the detailed design for the new Centenary Bridge is anticipated to begin by mid-2019 and would take up to 12 months to complete. The design of the new bridge is also set to be open for community feedback later this year.
