Australia's first industrial community will soon rise in New South Wales as construction gets underway on the $1 billion The YARDS project located within the Western Sydney Aerotropolis development area.

The project is being developed by Frasers Property Industrial in partnership with Altis Property Partners and Aware Super.

“Following on from our success at First Estate Industrial next door, and after years of planning, we are thrilled to have The YARDS precinct under way, delivering a significant boost to the Western Sydney economy and supporting key social infrastructure initiatives including retail amenity, public sporting fields and food and beverage offerings,” Altis Property Partners – Development Director Stephen O’Connor said.

The project is located on 649-763 Mamre Road in Kemps Creek, within the rezoned Mamre Road precinct in Western Sydney.

The YARDS development will occupy a 70-hectare site and can accommodate approximately 400,000-SQM of sustainable warehouse as well as logistics facilities.

The new precinct will focus on delivering a vibrant and healthy working environment for both customers and employees.

“This major industrial and logistics community is an important investment in the future of Western Sydney and its fantastic to see it start construction.

“It will create thousands of jobs, provide critical new social infrastructure for the area and ultimately lead the region to being a key distribution hub for New South Wales,” Minister for Jobs, Tourism and Western Sydney Stuart Ayres said.

The billion-dollar industrial precinct development is expected to create more than 3,500 jobs during its construction and once it is operational.

The YARDS is conveniently located with direct access to major transport hubs as well as future-proof infrastructure, including the M4 and M7 motorways and the Western Sydney Airport at Badgerys Creek.

“Showcasing a premium industrial estate design, it will play a vital role in fulfilling both the growing demand for warehousing and logistics space in the region and consumer demand, which we've seen accelerate further since the start of the global COVID-19 pandemic.

“Next generation industrial projects such as The YARDS are integral for businesses to continue to attract and retain top talent, drive further efficiencies and innovate for the future,” Frasers Property Industry CEO Reini Otter said.

Practical completion of the first stage works is anticipated for early 2022.
