NRW Holdings has been awarded a $110 million contract for works on Altura Mining’s Pilgangoora Lithium project in the Pilbara region.

Under their five-year contract, NRW will be responsible for the construction of mining infrastructure, development of mine haul roads, drill and blast services as well as hauling and loading of ore and overburden.

The awarded contract is subject to Altura completing its funding for the development of the lithium project, which is part of the company’s final investment decision.

“The design for the process plant is progressing well and the project and procurement teams continue to advance a number of key tenders which will enable construction works to commence by the end of Q1 2017,” Altura said in a statement.

Approximately 60 NRW workers will be utilised on-site with employment and subcontracting opportunities provided to the local Njamal indigenous communities from around the area.

NRW will be mobilising on-site by March 2017 after the statutory approval of the mining proposal. Altura is also on track to commence commissioning the project by late 2017.

“We look forward to work closely with the Altura team and are ready to commence as soon as the final investment decision is made,” said NRW CEO Jules Pemberton.
