NSW Government to invest $2.2bn for Sydney Water infrastructure upgrades

The New South Wales Government will be investing up to $2.2 billion through Sydney Water for upgrades on infrastructure capital until 2020.

“This infrastructure investment will see new filtration plants, pumps and water supply pipes built, and upgrades to wastewater networks and treatment plants – all of which will ensure world-class supply of water to people’s homes continues,” said Minister for Water Niall Blair.

As part of this project, work has commenced on a $27 million wastewater pumping station at Oran Park. According to Member for Camden Chris Patterson, the Oran Park wastewater facility will include the installation of up to eight kilometres of pipeline which will be servicing at least 7,000 new homes in Sydney’s South West.

“This is in addition to the Sydney Water wastewater projects just completed in Leppington and Austral, allowing a further 12,000 new dwellings in the area to be constructed,” Mr Patterson said.
