NSW Govt signs off on $2bn ANZ Stadium and Allianz Stadium projects

The New South Wales Government has signed off on the plans to demolish and rebuild the ANZ Stadium at Sydney Olympic Park and the Allianz Stadium at Moore Park, with both projects to cost approximately $2 billion.

Works on Allianz Stadium will include demolishing and rebuilding the stadium to create a 45,000-seat facility. This project is said to cost $705 million, and will begin major works in 2018.

On the other hand, ANZ Stadium is going to be demolished and rebuilt to have a capacity of about 80,000 seats and will feature a retractable roof. Works on the Allianz Stadium is expected to cost $1.25 billion, with major works to begin in 2019 after the 2019 NRL grand finals.

The rebuilding of Allianz Stadium is expected to be completed by 2019, while works on ANZ Stadium are expected to take up to 3 years to complete.

Both projects are expected to be put out to tender soon.
