NTC awarded Wheatstone LNG plant contract

NTC Contracting, based in Onslow, has been awarded a civil and earthworks contract at the Chevron operated Wheatstone LNG plant for up to five years.

The contract is set to create between 10 and 20 jobs with the scope of the contract still being defined and all positions to be based in the town of Onslow.

For an initial three year period, NTC will provide civil maintenance works to the Wheatstone plant with an additional opportunity for two one year extensions.

According to managing director, Jason Varcoe, the contract was awarded following NTC’s successful delivery of more than $200 million in contracts over the last six years.

A large portion of these contracts in the last six years were completed at Wheatstone during the project’s construction phase.

“With our head office in Onslow, this new contract represents success for both NTC and the town of Onslow,” Mr Varcoe said.

“We look forward to further solidifying our growth trajectory in Onslow and the broader Pilbara region.”

In addition to Wheatstone, NTC’s clients in the Onslow region include the recently built Onslow Marine Support Base, Onslow Salt and BHP Billiton’s Macedon gas project.

Throughout the Pilbara region, Rio Tinto’s Mesa A expansion and Citic Pacific’s Sino Iron development have been completed.

NTC was established as Northern Trucking Co in 1950 and diversified into contraction in 2001 with the workforce peaking at close to 100.
