Early works are now underway on the Hall Road Upgrade in Victoria and drivers in Melbourne’s growing southeast will soon have safer and less congested journeys along this road.

These works – including site establishment and tree removal – will pave the way for major construction to begin in the coming weeks.

MACA Civil and BMD Constructions have been appointed to deliver this project, which is anticipated to create more than 850 direct jobs during its construction phase.

“The Hall Road Upgrade will reduce frustrating traffic build up and make getting around the local area so much easier and safer for thousands of local residents,” Member for Carrum Sonya Kilkenny said.

The upgrade of Hall Road between McCormicks Road and Cranbourne-Frankston Road will include:

  • Delivering an additional lane in each direction between McCormicks Road and Western Port Highway
  • Upgrading intersections at McCormicks Road, Taylors Road, Western Port Highway, Evans Road and Cranbourne Frankston Road to add capacity and improve traffic flow
  • Build new walking and cycling paths along Hall Road between McCormicks Road and Western Port Highway
  • Installation of centre median and kerb-side safety barriers between McCormicks Road and Western Port Highway

“Once complete, the Hall Road Upgrade will provide huge improvements to the existing road network for the 17,000 vehicles that use this road every day.

“We are improving travel in Melbourne’s south-east through significant investment in road and rail – ensuring the growing community has better access to jobs, healthcare and education,” Minister for Transport Infrastructure Jacinta Allan said.

The Hall Road Upgrade builds on the improvement works already being delivered through the Thompson Road Upgrade and Hallam Road Upgrade, and follows the nearby construction works currently ongoing at Western Port Highway.

This project will also complement the Lathams Road Upgrade in Carrum Downs as well as the Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road Upgrade in Cranbourne.

“We’ve seen the benefits of upgrades to Thompson Road, and we’re looking forward to delivering further benefits to motorists with the Hall Road Upgrade,” Member for Cranbourne Pauline Richards said.

To date, over $23 billion has been invested towards major road and rail projects in Melbourne’s southeast as part of Victoria’s Big Build which aims to transform the way people move around the area.
