Defence Housing Australia (DHA) has chosen Georgiou Group as the preferred builder for its $61 million mixed-use development – known as the Liv Apartments – in Fremantle, Western Australia about 14-kilometres from Irwin Barracks.

As part of the project, Georgiou will be converting the former car yard on-site into a modern mixed-use development. It will include 166 apartment units as well as 1,300 square metres of commercial space and landscaped courtyards, with public open spaces also included in the plan.

The apartments will be home to the Department of Defence families which are stationed in WA, with apartments also available for sale to private owners and investors.

“[This] is a significant milestone on our efforts to bring this part of Fremantle to life,” said DHA Managing Director Jan Mason.

According to Georgiou Chief Executive Officer John Georgiou, the company – who has successfully delivered the forward works package for this development earlier in the year – is pleased to have been appointed as the preferred builder for this development.

“Construction will commence this week and we look forward to delivering this iconic project in Fremantle and adding to our portfolio of quality, mixed-use developments,” Mr Georgiou said.
