MACA Limited has been chosen as the preferred contractor for Western Australia’s Gruyere Gold Mine's bulk earthworks package. The final award of the contract is expected later this month when mobilisation and management plans have been finalised.
The bulk earthworks package, with a duration of 15 months to complete, is expected to create over 150 jobs at its peak.
“The Gruyere project is on the back of several minor civil works awards in Victoria and will help underpin the civil business into the next financial year,” said MACA Operations Director Geoff Baker.
The project is expected to commence work before the end of the 2017 financial year. Earthworks will include an access road, process plant and airstrip for the first six months of the project. Construction of a tailings storage facility as well as mine stripping and run-of-mine (ROM) pad will follow.
The Gruyere Gold Mine – located 200-kilometres east of Laverton – is a 50:50 joint venture project by Gold Road Resources and Gold Fields. The project was given the final mining approval earlier in 2017 by the Western Australian Department of Mines and Petroleum (DMP).
