Procurement is ramping up to find a Delivery Partner to support the Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority (GIICA) in the successful delivery of 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games venues and infrastructure.
In addition to the Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for a Delivery Partner, Registrations of Interest (ROIs) has also been launched for organisations in the design and construction sector to work with GIICA on the delivery of the 17 new and upgraded Games venues that were outlined in the Queensland Government’s 2032 Delivery Plan.
“We’re getting on with the job of delivering a Games and a legacy that every Queenslander will be proud of for generations to come.
“The Crisafulli Government’s landmark agreement with the Federal Government, which was announced in July, has been instrumental as we work towards the delivery of this critical and generational Games infrastructure and the stages of procurement.
“The procurement of a delivery partner is a critical step in delivering venues and getting shovels in the ground on our Games infrastructure program.
Significant infrastructure projects use a delivery partner model to ensure venues are built on time and on budget and we have no time to waste.
“The 2032 Delivery Plan is in place and now all the players are stepping up to get the job done, that’s what we do as Queenslanders and why we will deliver,” Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning Jarrod Bleijie said.
The new announcement builds on the launching of the GIICA Industry Briefing that has more than 1,500 participants. It also follows the appointment of a permanent GIICA CEO last week – Simon Crooks – who will be instrumental in leading the delivery of the Games infrastructure outlined in the 2032 Delivery Plan.
Both the Expressions of Interest and Registration of Interest will close in two weeks. Interested parties can apply through QTenders or the GIICA website.
GIICA is aiming to have a successful applicant for the Delivery Partner in place by the end of this year.
“Momentum continues and today’s announcement are yet another sign of the acceleration to 2032.
“No matter how you cut the numbers, the economic and social benefits of building for the Games and then hosting the event are outstanding.
“Billions of dollars in economic uplift for Queenslanders across tourism, trade and quantifiable social benefits for residents when our city and our state are broadcast into more than 200 countries across the world.
“Then there is the exciting generational infrastructure that will serve as a legacy for many years to come.
From a sporting perspective alone, more than 50 extra fields of play – courts, fields, pools – will be built for community or high-performance usage through the GIICA Games venue program.
“What an exciting time to be part of the construction industry in Queensland,” GIICA Chairman Stephen Conry said.
