Further funding of $10 million has been secured by the Queensland Government for the Cross River Rail project in Brisbane. According to Deputy Premier Jackie Trad, the Federal Government has joined hands with the Cross River Rail Delivery Authority to fund the development of the project.
Ms Trad also said that the $5.4 billion Cross River Rail is the QLD Government’s highest priority infrastructure project because it will help primarily transform South East Queensland.
“This is a city-shaping project that will be a driver of new jobs, better housing and increased productivity.
“The cooperation of the Turnbull Government will help expedite the completion of the initial stages of Cross River Rail and is the next step towards fully funding this project,” Ms Trad said.
Construction is expected to begin by early 2018 and operations to begin by 2023.
