QLD Ferny Grove station to receive $99.6m upgrade
The Ferny Grove train station - located approximately 10 kilometres north west of Brisbane - is set to be transformed into a transport oriented development (TOD) with a $99.6 million upgrade project that is being delivered by Honeycombes Property Group and designed by local architecture firm Bureau Proberts.
The development will feature a retail centre with a cinema complex as well as 64 residential apartments and over 2,200 car parking spaces. The project is comprised of three buildings that range from three to six storeys.

The existing Ferny Grove train station is a vital part of the area and it has the potential to become a centre for the local community.
“Through our design, we’re determined to deliver greater connectivity between this major transport hub and the wider community it serves, and offer vendors and shoppers an alternative to traditional retail environments,” Bureau Proberts Managing Director Liam Proberts said.
The retail section of the project will include a pedestrian link from the station to the street together with a new internal road going to the existing bus interchange.

The entire project design will be incorporating original roof tiles that are manufactured from a factory near the train station, giving a nod to Ferny Grove’s heritage. The design also brings into consideration Brisbane’s climate with an open facade that will allow cool breezes to pass through and natural light to flood the interiors.
Honeycombes Property has already submitted a development application to the Brisbane City Council and is awaiting approval.
Construction is expected to commence in early 2019, subject to Brisbane City Council’s approval.
