The Queensland Government will be investing approximately $200 million towards the Rockhampton Ring Road project, with which the Australian Government has already committed $800 million for its delivery.

The Rockhampton Ring Road is anticipated to create up to 780 jobs in the region, making it a priority project.

“It will boost economic activity in the region, improve flood immunity and build an efficient and safe bypass around the city for heavy vehicles and through traffic,” Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said.

In 2017, a $65 million has been committed for the planning and preservation phase of the Rockhampton Ring Road.

Planning work for this project is already underway.

Once the ring road is completed, it will be providing a western link of the Bruce Highway to the west of Rockhampton. This connection will include links to the city via Capricorn Highway, Ridgelands Road, Alexandra Street and Yaamba Road (Rockhampton-Yeppoon Road).

“The Rockhampton Ring Road will improve freight efficiency and safety as well as reduce congestion through Rockhampton City,” RACQ Head of Public Policy Rebecca Michael said.
