Motorists travelling on the Brisbane - Beenleigh Road (Kingston Road) in Queensland will soon experience improved traffic flow with design works now underway for an upgrade on two intersections along the route.
With more than 31,000 vehicles passing through Kingston Road each day, this $11.2 million upgrade will help ease congestion on the road.
“Instead of spending time with family, motorists are experiencing queueing and lengthy delays at these intersections during peak times,” Member for Woodridge Cameron Dick said.
Approximately $7.3 million of the $11.2 million funding will be invested towards extra turning lanes at the Kingston and Compton roads intersection..
“This means more vehicles will be able to get through the intersection faster, increasing capacity and efficiency.
“The remaining $3.9 million will go to upgrading the intersection at Kingston Road and Juers Street, which will create a major improvement for traffic flow along both north and south-bound approaches,” Member for Waterford Shannon Fentiman said.
Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said that design works on the upgrade will continue to early 2019. Early works are set to commence following the completion of the design, with major construction works expected to begin in 2020.
