Queensland Rail has revealed concept designs for upgrades to three railway stations and is seeking feedback from the community.
The upgrades to Bundaberg, Maryborough West and Rockhampton railway stations are part of an ongoing investment to upgrade stations across regional Queensland.
“Bundaberg railway station is a key regional travel hub that saw more than 77,400 customers move through the station last financial year.
“Our regional train stations are hubs for our communities, so it’s exciting to view these latest designs that look set to transform Bundaberg station into a world-class facility.
“We’re upgrading rail infrastructure right across our state, ensuring our network provides the best facilities for passengers,” Minister for Transport and Main Roads Bart Mellish said.
“Maryborough West railway station is a key regional travel hub that saw more than 42,600 customers move through the station last financial year.
“It connects thousands of people to towns across Queensland’s coastline with the Tilt Trains, Spirit of Queensland and Spirit of the Outback all operating through the station.
“The community engagement sessions are a great opportunity for locals and customers to offer their view on the new look and feel of the station,” Member for Maryborough and Assistant Minister for Train Manufacturing Bruce Saunders said.
The concept designs for the three stations were informed by initial community consultation and the upgrades will deliver:
- Customer lounge and breakout areas with device charging stations
- Travel centre and luggage check-in integration
- Improved customer parking, including accessible parking
- Improved customer amenities
- Customer information display screens and station signage
- Improved customer seating
- New emergency help phones, lighting and CCTV cameras
- Upgraded accessibility features such as Hearing Augmentation loops, handrails, wayfinding and Tactile Ground Surface Indicators (TGSI)
