RCR Tomlinson has secured contracts to work on two new large-scale solar farm projects in Australia, one in Victoria and the other in Queensland.

Swan Hill Solar Farm

Solar Powerstations Victoria has awarded RCR a $28 million engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the 19MWdc Swan Hill Solar Farm in VIC. The construction of the solar farm is funded by Impact Investment Group (IIG), and it is set to become one of the seed assets in IIG’s new solar fund.

RCR’s scope of works will involve EPC and commissioning of the solar farm, including associated substations and grid connection works. The company will also undertake maintenance services of the solar farm for a two-year initial period, once the project is completed.

Construction of the Swan Hill Solar Farm is expected to commence in September 2017.

Emerald Solar Farm

RCR has signed an Early Works Letter with RES Australia Pty Ltd for the development of an EPC contract which will be used to deliver an 80MW solar farm located near Emerald in Queensland.

“These large-scale solar projects add to RCR’s substantial order book and preferred contractor status of renewable energy projects, clearly positioning RCR as the market leader and therefore first choice for this sector. Our growing capability, resources and equipment gives RCR even greater leverage to remain the foremost contractor in the solar market.

“The market for large-scale renewable energy projects in Australia continues to grow and the pipeline of new projects is expanding rapidly. We see renewable energy as a long-term major sector for the Australian market and one which we will always play a significant role,” RCR Managing Director and CEO, Dr Paul Dalgleish said.
