ROI released for Western Sydney Airport early earthworks package

Monica Gameng   |   December 17, 2017

Registration of Interest (ROI) for early stage earthworks on the Western Sydney Airport project has been released by WSA Co – a Government Business Enterprise established to build the new airport.

This is a vital step towards the Australian Government’s commitment to begin early stage earthworks on the project before the end of 2018.

Early earthworks will include moving 1.8 million cubic metres of earth from the airport site’s north-eastern area, which is part of the overall bulk earthworks required for the project – with approximately 22 million cubic metres of dirt that needs to be moved and redistributed throughout the site during construction.

A request for tender as well as the awarding of the contract will be done in the coming months following the release of this ROI. Other tenders – which includes the main bulk earthworks tender – are expected to be released early 2018.

Early earthworks are expected to commence next year, with extensive activity ramping up to prepare the site for early earthworks to begin.

The Western Sydney Airport is expected to be completed by 2026.
