SCEE and Heyday secures $100m worth of work contracts

Southern Cross Electrical Engineering (SCEE) and its recently acquired subsidiary, Heyday, has won approximately $100 million in contracts for works in the construction and resources industries.

SCEE has secured more than $10 million of new work which includes a subcontract for works at Rio Tinto’s Silvergrass East Project – located 100 kilometres North West of Tom Price in WA. The $5 million subcontract is with Decmil and the scope of works include electrical, instrumentation as well as communication works at the Nammuldi central mine services area and the new non-process facilities at the Silvergrass East mine service area.

On the other hand, Heyday has secured approximately $90 million to deliver construction works for a number of projects in Sydney and Canberra. Projects include:

• Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) stage with Multiplex Constructions for the new Westmead Hospital Central Acute Services Building (CASB). Scope of works will include the engineering design and installation of specialty electrical and communication services
• Fitout in the Tower 2 Darling Park building – located at 201 Sussex Street, Sydney – for Insurance Australia Group. Works will include design finalisation as well as construction of electrical and communications services across 33,000-SQM of commercial space. The contract was awarded by FDC Construction and Fitout
• Full design as well as construction, electrical and communications subcontract from Geocon Building for the retail and residential sections of “The Republic” – which will become Canberra’s biggest mixed-use precinct that’s part of the Section 200 development
• Electrical services design and construction contract with Chase Building Group for the delivery of a residential project comprising of 190 apartments in Canberra

“Heyday has secured a significant amount of new work since we acquired the business in March and continues to see a large opportunity pipeline in the east coast commercial, social infrastructure and transport markets. Our resources business remains a key part of the expanded group as evidenced by our recent awards in both mining and oil and gas,” SCEE Managing Director Graeme Dunn said.
