Shortlisted tenderers announced for Parramatta Light Rail

New South Wales’ Parramatta Light Rail project is progressing well with five consortia comprising of light rail builders and operators already shortlisted for Stage 1.

Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance has announced a shortlist of bidders – including Australian and international light rail companies – for two major contracts.

“This project will create thousands of jobs for the local community, and light rail will revolutionise the way people move around the Parramatta region.

“The world’s best light rail organisations are lining up to be part of this major infrastructure project, and we are moving as fast as possible with procurement of these contracts to ensure they are both awarded before the end of 2018,” Mr Constance said.

The two major contracts and shortlisted companies for Stage 1 are:

A formal proposal will now be asked from the shortlisted bidders, with the contracts expected to be awarded in 2018.

The first stage of the Parramatta Light Rail will be connecting Westmead to Carlingford via Parramatta CBD with a 12-kilometre two-way track.

Construction is expected to commence in 2018 and be completed in 2023.
