Talison Lithium has awarded Monadelphous a $160 million contract for the construction of the Chemical Grade Plant 3 at the Greenbushes operations in Western Australia.

Under this contract, Monadelphous will undertake the installation of a new crushing and screening facility along with the construction of a lithium concentrate processing plant, including associated tank and piping fabrication works and electrical supply.

The contract award follows a successful early contractor involvement period.

“We are delighted to have secured this key opportunity which further extends our participation in the development of Talison Lithium’s Greenbushes operations,” Monadelphous Managing Director Zoran Bebic said.

Works on the Chemical Grade Plant 3 will commence later this year, with the facility expected to be completed in the first half of 2025.

Over the past three decades, the Greenbushes operations has undergone several expansions to maintain its position as a major lithium mineral concentrates supplier.

With the delivery of the third processing plant, Talison Lithium continues to expand its production facilities to enable it to supply the growing downstream processing industry in Western Australia that is being established by Tianqi Lithium Corporation/IGO Limited joint venture and Albemarle Corporation.

Talison Lithium’s Greenbushes operations is located directly south and adjacent to the town of Greenbushes. It sits about 250 kilometres south of Perth and Fremantle, and approximately 90 kilometres south east of the port of Bunbury.
