A tender has been released for the design development and construct (with novated design) of the repurposing of Darwin's Chan Building. The $18.3 million repurposing project is being developed in partnership with the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT).

“Government has committed funds towards the Chan redevelopment project…

This will be a major infrastructure project for Darwin which is unique because of its purpose.” – Infrastructure Minister Peter Chandler

According to Arts and Museum Minister Gary Higgins, this project is going to be an exciting one for the entire community. Its redevelopment will turn the building into a modern and dedicated visual art gallery which will help promote the Northern Territory culture.

“This is a wonderfully exciting and unique project for the community and for everyone to support and be part of – a once in a lifetime opportunity!

The Board of MAGNT is also seeking important private sector and philanthropic supporters to engage with this pivotal time of growth for the Territory’s cultural identity.” – Minister Gary Higgins
