Written by Monica Gameng | Aug 21, 2016 2:00:00 PM

The Liberal National Government is now accepting tender applications for the development on a 4.2-hectare site at Girrawheen in Perth. The successful proponent will deliver up to 160 private, affordable and social housing homes, facilitating all aspects of the project’s development – from design and concept to construction.

According to Housing Minister Brendon Grylls, the site of the former Hainsworth Primary School presented an opportunity for the private sector to partner with the State Government for the delivery of affordable medium-density housing in this suburb.

“The Hainsworth project will create a vibrant, diverse community near parks, schools and a community centre.” – Minister Brendon Grylls

Minister Grylls said that this project is another example of the Government’s commitment to partnering with private sectors to deliver 30,000 affordable housing opportunities by 2020 through the State Affordable Housing Strategy.

“The Hainsworth project presents an attractive commercial opportunity for private developers to showcase a contemporary, attractive infill development.

“It will provide a greater diversity of housing choice in Girrawheen, including modern contemporary apartments and semi-detached housing on small cottage lots.” – Minister Brendon Grylls

Tender submissions will end on 29 September 2016. Construction is expected to begin in mid-2017.
