More jobs are set to be created in the Northern Territory as critical minerals company Tivan Limited – formerly known as TNG Limited – moves its headquarters to Darwin.

Not only will this move expand the company’s locally based team over the coming months, but it will also strengthen Tivan’s presence in the Northern Territory that will, in turn, support the next phase of planning and stakeholder engagement for its planned TIVAN Processing Facility development at the Middle Arm Sustainable Development Precinct along with the TIVAN+ Pilot Plant Project in Darwin.

“Relocating HQ to Darwin is an important substantive step forward for Tivan. It will materially assist in project facilitation, especially in respect of our Pilot Plant and the significant work we have ahead at the Middle Arm Sustainable Development Precinct (MASDP). HQ will now be proximate to Tivan’s core interests and future workforce, and to greater Asia as well.

“Today’s announcement also has important symbolic resonance. Tivan is now one of a handful of ASX listed companies with HQ in the Northern Territory and remains the sole public proponent at MASDP. The move will further differentiate our corporate profile and value propositions, as we continue to deepen relationships with key stakeholders, including in community, government and First Nations,” Tivan Limited Executive Chairman Grant Wilson said.

The company is currently pursuing a globally significant project that includes the development of a multi-mineral hub in Darwin where critical minerals essential for renewable energy production will be processed.

“The Territory has the critical minerals the world needs to support renewable energy, battery storage and high-tech industries.

“This announcement by Tivan shows their belief in the Territory – creating new industry and supporting job creation,” Minister for Mining and Industry Nicole Manison said.

The proposed TIVAN Processing Facility in the Middle Arm is estimated to create 1,500 jobs during its construction and a further 1,000 highly skilled long-term employment opportunities once it is operational.

The new facility will be processing vanadium, titanium and iron.

“The Territory is rapidly emerging as a key player when it comes to the global supply chains for the critical minerals required for new technologies and the energy transition.

“Tivan moving their headquarters to Darwin signifies that the Territory is a critical minerals hub. It also shows Middle Arm is one of the most exciting and significant developments in the nation, and it will support thousands of jobs for Territorians.

“The need for new critical mineral mines and mineral processing continues to grow to support the demand for renewable energy, battery storage and high-technology industries. This presents significant economic and strategic opportunities for the Territory to become a reliable supplier of minerals to support the transition to a decarbonised economy,” Chief Minister Natasha Fyles said.
