ElectraNet Pty Ltd has awarded CIMIC Group company UGL Limited a $180 million contract to deliver infrastructure that will connect the Prominent Hill Mine to the South Australian electricity grid.

“This new contract with ElectraNet further strengthens our presence in the South Australian power sector and brings employment opportunities to the people of South Australia,” CIMIC Group Chief Executive Officer Michael Wright said.

The two-year contract will include design, construction and commissioning of two high voltage switching stations as well as about 300 kilometres of high voltage transmission lines.

“We are delighted to be working with ElectraNet to deliver power infrastructure that will support the growth of this important business hub, now and into the future,” UGL Managing Director Jason Spears said.

The Prominent Hill Mine is a copper-gold mine that is solely owned by OZ Minerals, and it is located approximately 130 kilometres south east of Coober Pedy.
