Approximately $208 million has been invested by the Australian Government for the delivery of the Shepparton Bypass Stage 1 in Victoria’s Goulburn Valley - a project that will remove freight and through traffic from the Shepparton CBD.

“The bypass will also mean transport companies can get product to market sooner, improving the competitiveness of local businesses and helping to create even more jobs for locals,” Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack said.

The first stage of the Shepparton Bypass will include the construction of a 10-kilometre single lane road from the Midland Highway in Mooroopna then extending north to Excelsior Avenue and Cornish Road to Echuca Road. From there, the bypass will go east to Wanganui Road where it will reconnect to the Goulburn Valley Highway in Shepparton North.

This significant investment is being delivered under the Roads of Strategic Importance (ROSI) initiative.

The State Government is currently finalising the business case for the project which is expected to create hundreds of jobs during construction.
