A major milestone has been reached on the WestConnex M4-M5 Link: Rozelle Interchange and Iron Cove Link, with the JCL Joint Venture - comprised of John Holland and CPB Contractors - awarded the contract to deliver the $3.9 billion project.

This is the final WestConnex contract to be awarded, with the entire project remaining within the set $16.8 billion budget.

“We’re proud to be working with Roads and Maritime Services to ensure the safe and on-time delivery of this important project,” CPB Contractors Managing Director Juan Santamaria said.

The multi-billion dollar project will comprise of a complex underground motorway junction and the refurbishment of the unused rail yard to provide the local community with 10 hectares of new open space as well as help improve access to public transport.

“The winning design solution will deliver 8,000 additional square metres of public open space than originally expected. The additional public space also delivers improved pedestrian connectivity to public transport including the light rail, and the future Sydney Metro West,” Minister for WestConnex Stuart Ayres said.

Once completed, the Rozelle Interchange and Iron Cove Link will provide a new underground interchange to the City West Link. It will also provide an underground bypass of Victoria Road - between Iron Cove Bridge and Anzac Bridge - with links to the upcoming Western Harbour Tunnel.

This project will involve upgrading roads around the Bays Precinct and Inner West as well.

Construction on the project is expected to commence in mid-2019, with completion anticipated by 2023.
