Whittens Group has announced that it will continue its work on the Ichthys Project Onshore LNG Facilities in Darwin with a new contract awarded by Kawasaki Heavy Industries.

Whittens’ scope of works under the new contract will include completing the closing of the Temporary Construction Opening (TCO) as well as installation of insulation of the ceiling and walls across four cryogenic tanks – comprising of two LNG, one propane and one butane.

Works commenced in April 2017 and is expected to take up to four months to complete. This project will have a peak of up to 70 in its workforce, with trades ranging from boilermakers / welders, concreters, formworkers and plant operators from within Whittens’ Services division.

According to Whittens’ Director Clayton Whitten, the new contract provides a positive indication that the company and its integrated services division are “moving in the right direction for growth”.

“The future looks very encouraging for Whittens’ Services arm, with opportunities increasing across a variety of sectors. I look forward to a continued solid performance throughout 2017-18 and appreciate the efforts of all those in the team and the support staff that helps make Whittens the service provider of choice,” Mr Whitten said.
