The delivery of the Darwin Ship Lift Facility is providing a major boost in the local Northern Territory economy as the project’s main contractor – the Clough BMD Joint Venture – awards $58.8 million worth of works to local businesses.
This reflects the project team’s commitment to ensuring that the benefits of the new ship lift facility are felt throughout the Territory.
Through its local-first approach, the joint venture is helping drive a positive impact across the Northern Territory through the creation of jobs and business opportunities. And as they work closely with the Northern Territory Government, the Clough BMD Joint Venture remains focused on providing opportunities for Territorians to build stronger and more sustainable businesses through the project now and into the future.
“The Clough BMD Joint Venture is proud to support local businesses and communities through our commitment to local procurement. Together, we’re building a stronger future for the Northern Territory,” the joint venture said in a statement.
To date, the project has marked significant achievements including the awarding of one of the largest subcontractor contracts to Wilga Indigenous Corporation – a $16.9 million contract to supply 430,000 tonnes of rock for construction.
