Major milestones have been marked on Senex Energy’s Western Surat Gas Project (WSGP), with a preferred builder announced and the beginning of construction on the Roma North natural gas development in Queensland.

Wasco Pty Ltd has been awarded the contract to deliver a gas processing facility as well as a 6-kilometre pipeline that will connect to a GLNG-operated infrastructure and a metering station. Early works on the project is now underway.

“This contract and early works are further milestones in the development of our gas business in the Surat Basin,” Senex Managing Director and CEO Ian Davies said.

Once constructed, the modular gas processing facility for Roma North will have an initial capacity of approximately 16 terajoules (TJ) a day, with the possibility of expanding the facility’s capacity to up to 24 TJ a day.

The processing facility and associated works are expected to be commissioned in late 2019.

The Western Surat Gas Project is located 30 kilometres north of Roma in Queensland, within the Maranoa Regional Council area.
