The solar farm is going to be built on a 550-hectare site which is utilised primarily for cropping.
The Avonlie Solar Farm website stated: “The site has excellent exposure to Australia’s abundant solar resources, making it an ideal location for a renewable energy project.”
The site was chosen for a number of reasons including its close proximity to the grid transmission network; it is not within a flood area; and strong local support.
Construction on Avonlie Solar Farm is anticipated to commence in late 2019 and completed by Autumn 2021. The project is expected to support up to 200 direct jobs during its construction and up to 4 full-time positions once it is operational.
