$91.6m worth of contracts awarded for WA health service centres redevelopment

The Western Australian Government has awarded contracts worth $91.6 million to four building companies. The contracts are for the redevelopment and refurbishment of six health service centres across the State’s rural areas.

A substantial portion of work has been awarded to Perth-based Pindan Pty Ltd, receiving three out of the six contracts – a combined worth of $50.9 million – for redevelopment works on Northam Health Service and Merredin Health Service as well as the refurbishment work on Dalwallinu Health Centre.

The Northam Health Service’s $31.7 million contract is the largest from the three projects that Pindan secured, and it will involve the emergency department’s expansion in order to provide more treatment space. Other works for this project will include a new entrance and ambulance bay as well as expand the facilities for chemotherapy, consultation rooms, a wound clinic, and areas for indoor and outdoor treatment.

The largest single contract – worth $35.5 million – for the redevelopment of the Narrogin Health Service has been awarded to Cockram Construction.

The Narrogin Health Service redevelopment will include works on a new outpatients centre, a new dental clinic, expansion on the pathology building, new sub-acute and rehabilitation units as well as additional cancer services.

Construction on the Narrogin Health Service is expected to commence before the end of 2016.

Another Perth-based company, FIRM Construction has been awarded the $3.1 million contract for refurbishment works on the Jurien Bay Health Centre, and Adco Construction has secured the $2.1 million contract for the refurbishment of the Wongan Hills Health Service.
