The community is given a glimpse of the new Boronia Station precinct as the Victorian Government releases the first designs of the upgraded station, and locals are encouraged to have their say on the designs.
The designs can be viewed on the project’s dedicated page on the Engage Victoria website.
A new landscaped plaza is going to be built to give locals a direct connection to the upgraded station precinct, making travelling between Boronia Station and the Dorset Road shopping precinct safer and easier.
The new plaza will feature landscaping, seating and lighting to make it an inviting public space that also directly links to a new pedestrian crossing for safe access across Dorset Road.
“We’re getting on with upgrading the Boronia Station precinct, making it easier for people to access local shops, buses, schools and places to eat.
“As we continue to approve more homes than anywhere else in the country, the Boronia Station Upgrade will pave the way for future growth and development in the local community,” Minister for Transport Infrastructure Danny Pearson said.
The project will also deliver improvements to the platform including upgrades to station furniture, shelters, toilets and passenger waiting rooms.
Meanwhile, the ticket office and Protective Services office will be relocated to improve the station entries and to allow the station concourse to be widened to improve access over the rail line.

The station upgrade will also add new canopies over the entrances and deliver an updated pick-up and drop-off area along Lupton Way.
Providing better pedestrian connections and new open space around Boronia Station will support future growth as well as enable more homes across the booming community.
Works to upgrade the Boronia Station precinct will commence next year and be completed in 2026.
“This is the biggest investment by any Government into Boronia in a generation, it’s what locals asked for and I’m stoked that we’re going to deliver an incredible outcome that Boronia absolutely needs and deserves.
“I know the community can’t wait to see the project complete, as it is going to completely transform the heart of our suburb and improve accessibility for people using the station,” Member for Bayswater Jackson Taylor said.
The Boronia Station Upgrade builds on the works completed earlier this year to make the Lilydale Line level crossing free as well as the Belgrave Line boom gate free between Ferntree Gully and the city.
This project is part of the Level Crossing Removal Project which is removing 110 level crossings by 2030 to make the Lilydale, Sunbury, Pakenham, Cranbourne, Frankston and Werribee lines boom gate free.

The final designs for the removal of four dangerous and congested level crossings in Melbourne’s west as well as the new Melton Station have been released and construction is on track to begin later this year.
Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians will soon have safer and more reliable journeys on Barwon Heads Road with works set to begin on Stage 2 upgrades in 2025.
The Eastern Freeway Upgrade in Victoria has marked another major milestone with two world-class consortia selected as preferred bidders for the remaining stages of the project.
