Cape secures $20m worth of work contracts in WA

South Guildford-based company Cape – a subsidiary of CFC Group – has secured $20 million worth of contracts for work in the gold mining, lithium and electricity infrastructure sectors.

For the first contract, Cape will undertake raising the embankment of a tailings storage facility at the Garden Well gold mine – located approximately 100 kilometres north of Laverton, Western Australia – for Regis Resources. Cape will also be working on a decant access way and structure raising. Works on this project is expected to begin in August and will take up to six months to complete.

The second contract Cape has secured is for the construction of an 18-kilometre borefield pipeline for Pilbara Minerals’ Pilgangoora lithium-tantalum project which is located near Port Hedland. The company’s scope of works will include a pumping station, telemetry control system, earthworks as well as up to six months of operation and maintenance services for the dewatering infrastructure at the mine.

“We are delighted to secure a pipeline project within the lithium sector where we have recently been successful with crushing and screening project awards,” Cape Chief Executive Peter Rowles said.

For Cape’s third contract, the company is going to participate in Western Power’s underground power project in Perth’s suburb, Floreat. The project will require almost 1,000 power poles to be removed in an area where more than 1,800 homes are located. This underground power project will include horizontal directional drilling for approximately 60 kilometres.

“Cape’s strength is in our diversified service offering which allows us to operate in multiple markets and allows us to provide long term employment opportunities for our people,” Mr Rowles added.
