Construction begins on $400m private development on Perth's Elizabeth Quay

Work has started on the first private development on Elizabeth Quay in Perth. The $400 million 5-star Ritz-Carlton hotel and The Towers apartment building is expected to create 1,200 jobs throughout the construction phase.

According to Planning Minister Donna Faragher, this development by international developer Far East Consortium International and local builder Probuild marks the return of The Ritz-Carlton hotel brand to Australia after a 10-year break.

Once construction is completed, Perth’s waterfront will boast luxury accommodation, dining, entertainment and retail options. The Ritz-Carlton hotel will comprise of 204 rooms while The Towers will have 379 residential apartments in two towers adjacent to the Bell Tower.

“This development will attract tourists and residents to enjoy the many features of Elizabeth Quay that have been enjoyed by more than two million visitors.” – Minister Donna Faragher

Premier and Tourism Minister Colin Barnett said that the Liberal National Government has successfully attracted high-quality accommodation providers to Perth such as The Ritz-Carlton, COMO The Treasury, Crown Towers and the Westin hotel.

“Visitors to Perth are attracted by our city’s best natural assets, the Swan River and Kings Park, and their experience is enriched through quality accommodation, exceptional public transport and great hospitality – all of which will be on offer at Elizabeth Quay.” – Premier Colin Barnett

Both The Ritz-Carlton hotel and The Towers apartments are expected to open in 2019.
