Once complete, the Yan Yean Road Upgrade Stage 2 will help reduce congestion as well as improve safety and provide more reliable travel times for the 24,000 motorists who use this arterial road every day.
This project is part of a significant investment in road infrastructure across Melbourne’s north-east which will deliver new and upgraded lanes, intersections and shared paths – either completed or underway on Bridge Inn Road, Plenty Road, Epping Road, O’Herns Road, Childs Road and the M80 Ring Road.
Stage 2 of the Yan Yean Road Upgrade is jointly funded by the Australian and Victorian Governments under the $3.14 billion Suburban Roads Upgrades – South Eastern Roads and Northern Roads.
The Federal Government has committed $1.58 billion towards this program of works, with the State Government investing $1.57 billion.
“We’ve seen great time-saving that the first stage of this project has delivered and it’s fantastic to see Stage 2 ready to commence in November,” Federal Member for McEwan Rob Mitchell said.
“Melbourne’s north-east is an up-and-coming destination for young families and professionals to live in and this upgrade will ensure they’re able to get from home, to work, to school and everywhere in between easier than ever,” VIC Member for Yan Yean Lauren Kathage said.
