The construction contract for the $100 million Pitt Town Bypass project has been awarded by the New South Wales Government to Abergeldie Complex Infrastructure.
Construction on the 950-metre bypass will commence in the coming months.
Key features of the project include:
“The Minns Labor Government has listened to the community and community advocates like the Pitt Town Progress Association and Federal Member for Macquarie Susan Templeman to bring this project to commencement.
“With the selection of the successful contractor, residents will soon be able to look forward to less congestion through the village and having a safer alternative for travel between Pitt Town and Wisemans Ferry.
“As the North West of Sydney continues to grow, it is essential that local communities have reliable infrastructure. The bypass will connect travellers going through Pitt Town and serve residents in this fast-growing region,” Minister for Roads Jenny Aitchison said.

The existing road carries more than 10,000 vehicles each day and traffic volumes during peak periods are anticipated to increase by 40 per cent in coming years.
Once completed, the bypass will provide an alternative route through Pitt Town, significantly reducing the number of trucks driving through the town centre.
The Pitt Town Bypass will also help reduce travel times, especially between Windsor and Wisemans Ferry, as well as improve safety and amenity for road users and the community.
In addition, the improvements to the road network will help enhance flood resilience for residents by improving traffic flow and road safety in and around Pitt Town, which will be vital for future emergency evacuations.
The Pitt Town Bypass project is expected to open to traffic in late 2026.
“A Pitt Town bypass has been talked about for more than six decades.
“It’s good to see the time for talk is over and the Minns Labor Government is delivering this vital piece of infrastructure for the people of Pitt Town,” NSW Labor’s Hawkesbury spokesperson Peter Primrose MLC said.
“I welcome the selection of a builder which is a significant milestone for the Pitt Town community and the Pitt Town Bypass project.
“Having advocated for many years alongside the Pitt Town Progress Association for the Bypass, with promises but little progress, I can say the Minns Government has made a huge difference, committing and then delivering the funding needed to get this project moving,” Federal Member for Macquarie Susan Templeman said.
