EOI process begins for the Pacific Motorway upgrade in QLD

Monica Gameng   |   October 23, 2016

An expression of interest process has begun for the design and construction of the Pacific Motorway M1/M3/Gateway Merge at Eight Mile Plains. The Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads will also begin engaging with a design consultant for the Mudgeeraba to Varsity Lakes development, which will help identify firm market-based construction costs.

More than 148,000 vehicles as well as 12,000 heavy vehicles travel through the stretch of road each day and the Pacific Motorway upgrade project will be able to resolve one of the State’s most problematic bottlenecks.

Upgrade works will include construction of a four-lane bridge over the Pacific Motorway as well as the realignment of Underwood Road – between Logan road and School Road.

Works will also involve widening five kilometres of road between Mudgeeraba and Varsity Lakes which will modernise the highway and reduce the number as well as severity of vehicular incidents. This upgrade will help freight businesses be able to operate more efficiently and cut the travel time for commuters as well.
