The Queensland Government is moving ahead with updating the Ipswich Motorway masterplan as well as the development of a business case to upgrade the Oxley Interchange with Expressions of Interest now underway.

“The Ipswich Motorway is an important connecting road for many South East Queenslanders, and we want to make sure it continues to function as our population grows.

“The updated masterplan for the final stretch, which will build on previous plans, will aim to make the motorway easier for motorists in the corridor between Oxley and Darra,” Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said.

Updates to the masterplan will include plans for the remaining three-kilometre section of the Ipswich Motorway between Oxley and Darra along with the business case for the first package for the Oxley Interchange upgrade, which will assist in the delivery of a safer and more reliable road.

“Getting on with this planning is another example of the Palaszczuk Labor Government’s commitment to improving transport in Queensland.

“We’re delivering better roads and services right across the state, helping Queenslanders spend less time behind the wheel and more enjoying our great lifestyle,” Minister for Transport and Main Roads Mark Bailey said.

Planning is anticipated to be completed by mid-2024.

The Australian and Queensland Governments have committed $25 million towards the planning phase.

“When complete, these upgrades will make the Ipswich Motorway much easier and safer to use, and I’m looking forward to seeing it progress further,” Speaker to the House of Representatives and Federal Member for Oxley Milton Dick said.

“Demand for the Ipswich Motorway is only going to increase as our population continues to grow, so moving towards making it safer and more efficient is great news,” State Member for Mount Ommaney Jess Pugh said.
