Four new upgrade packages for Bruce Highway – with a total worth of $46.7 million – are set to begin construction in Central Queensland.
Works will involve building a safer Bruce Highway by widening and reconstructing the road surface along the stretch of highway. A number of intersection upgrades will also be included in the work packages.
Up to 128 jobs will be supported during the construction phase of the four packages.
The four projects include the following:
“The Bruce Highway is the economic backbone of many Queensland communities and our freight and tourism industries rely on it for their prosperity. These upgrades will cater for the highway’s continuing traffic growth and boost safety for all motorists in the region. These much-needed safety upgrades will include pavement widening, rebuilding rough, potholed or corrugated sections of highway and upgrading intersections to separate turning vehicles from highway traffic,” said Federal Member for Flynn Ken O’Dowd.

Construction on two new solar farms - with a total capacity of over 460MW - in New South Wales are set to go underway this year, with Germany-based Belectric securing the engineering, procurement and construction as well as operations and maintenance contracts for both projects.
Major construction on the fifth section of the Newcastle Inner City Bypass in New South Wales is due to begin later this year with the design and construct contract awarded to Fulton Hogan Construction Pty Ltd.
A new milestone has been marked on the $481 million Bruce Highway - Cairns Southern Access Corridor Stage 3, with two shortlisted tenderers invited to participate in the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phase of the project.
