John Holland to build Brisbane's new $100m Mercedes Benz Autohaus

John Holland has been awarded the contract to deliver the $100 million Mercedes Benz Brisbane Autohaus on the site of the old Breakfast Creek Wharf in Newstead.

Rivalling those in Europe, the new Autohaus will feature an automotive sales and service centre as well as a 539 square metre automotive museum, administrative office area, rooftop event space and conference room, and retail spaces.

According to John Holland Chief Executive Officer Joe Barr, this development will help revitalise the public space along the waterfront site.

“In its heyday in the 1980s, Breakfast Creek Wharf housed riverfront restaurants but has more recently fallen into disrepair. This project is an exciting piece of urban renewal that will create an iconic leisure, entertainment and hospitality precinct enabling residents and visitors to truly embrace Brisbane’s subtropical lifestyle,” Mr Barr said.

John Holland Building Manager QLD/NT Collin Matthews said that the Mercedes Benz Autohaus will be important to the region.

“We relish the opportunity to deliver this vision for Mercedes Benz Brisbane. The development sits at the gateway linking the airport to the inner city and beyond. It will be a focal point for the community and also generate approximately 300 jobs during construction,” Mr Matthews said.

Construction of the new Mercedes Benz Brisbane Autohaus is expected to commence in the coming weeks.
