Perth contractor wins $30m civil works contract at Boddington gold mine

Perth-based contractor Brierty has been awarded a $30 million civil works contract by Newmont Mining at its Boddington gold mine, 120km south-east of Perth.

After recently suffering a $22 million loss on the North West Coastal Highway Widening road project in WA, Brierty's new chief executive Ray Bushnell welcomed the contract, reporting it has added a long-term civil project to the business that will bring the order book to $286 million.

Starting in September, the local contractor will be providing various mining services to the Boddington site for a duration of 30 months.

Brierty will be utilising existing plant and equipment that would otherwise be sitting idle, and will take advantage of the company’s ability to move its personnel and fleet from civil to mining works.
