A modern, accessible and safer Boronia Station precinct in Victoria is a step closer to reality, with major construction now underway on the station upgrade.
The project will deliver important accessibility and safety enhancements for passengers. The Boronia Station Upgrade will also include a new landscaped community plaza on Dorset Road, providing more green space and seating as well as a new community meeting place while making it easier for people to travel between the station and Boronia’s busy shopping precinct.
A new signalised pedestrian crossing will also be provided to make it safer for people to access the station and nearby shops.
Lupton Way will be closed to traffic from 27 March until late September while major works are carried out. During this time, crews will widen the station concourse, build new platform shelters and upgrade seating and lighting to enhance comfort and safety through improved visibility across the plaza and station area.
“We’re getting on with the job of delivering a new Boronia Station precinct to make it safer, more accessible and better connected to the local community.
“The new plaza and upgraded station will make it easier for people to access trains, buses and the Boronia shopping precinct,” Minister for Transport Infrastructure Gabrielle Williams said.

The final designs for the Boronia Station Upgrade were unveiled last year, and it featured a striking new station forecourt and an extended concourse to improve connections across the rail line.
Meanwhile, a new pocket park near Boronia Junction Shopping Centre will include garden beds, trees, seating and a nature play area which creates a welcoming green space for the community.
Over 50 new trees as well as 3,000 plants and shrubs will be planted across the station precinct, Boronia Station Reserve and the new plaza as part of this project.
The upgraded station will also feature an improved pick-up and drop-off zone on Lupton Way, better footpaths to both station entrances and more bike hoops for cyclists.
“Our community will benefit from a modern, more accessible station that will transform the heart of Boronia and make it easier for people to catch the train.
“Thanks to everyone for their patience as the Allan Labor Government gets this one done,” Member for Bayswater Jackson Taylor said.
