Mondium, a joint venture company between Monadelphous and Lycopodium, has been awarded a $100 million design and construction contract for a new facility at Talison Lithium’s Greenbushes mine in Western Australia.
Subject to regulatory approvals, Mondium will undertake design as well as engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of a new tailing retreatment processing plant under the new contract win. Scope of works will also include detailed earthworks, concrete works, structural, platework, electrical and instrumentation works and controls.
“We are excited to have been awarded such a significant contract and look forward to continuing our strong relationship with Talison Lithium,” Mondium Director Bob Osmetti said.
Once completed, the new facility will process tailings produced from the Greenbushes mine to extract lithium.
The tailing retreatment processing plant is due for completion by June 2020 and is said to have an operating life of approximately five years.
The Greenbushes mine is located approximately 250 kilometres south of Perth and Fremantle and 90 kilometres south east of the Port of Bunbury.
