More works set to go underway on NSW's $3.6bn The Northern Road Upgrade

Following the award of the contract to deliver The Northern Road Upgrade between Mersey Road at Bringelly and Eaton Road at Luddenham, the tender process is now underway for a preferred builder to deliver the Littlefields Road to Glenmore Parkway section of the $3.6 billion upgrade project.

In July, the joint venture between Ertech and Georgiou Group was awarded the contract to deliver the 5.7-kilometre stretch of the Northern Road between Mersey Road and Eaton Road.

The preferred builder for the Littlefields Road to Glenmore Parkway section of the project is expected to be announced in the coming months, with construction set to commence later this year. Tenderers for this section of the upgrade include Lendlease, Fulton Hogan and CPB Contractors.

The Littlefields Road to Glenmore Parkway section is a 6.7-kilometre stretch of road that is included in the Northern Road Upgrade from Mersey Road to Glenmore Parkway that will divert the Northern Road around the future Western Sydney Airport and around Luddenham town centre.

Upgrade on the 16-kilometre stretch of the Northern Road between Mersey Road to Glenmore Parkway is going to be delivered in three sections, namely:

  • Mersey Road to Eaton Road
  • Eaton Road to Littlefields Road
  • Littlefields Road to Glenmore Parkway

Roads and Maritime Services said on their website: “The Northern Road upgrade will deliver new and upgraded roads to support integrated transport in the region and capitalise on the economic benefits from developing the Western Sydney Airport at Badgerys Creek. It will also improve safety, increase road capacity and reduce congestion and travel times in the future.”

This project is set to deliver new traffic lanes, upgrades to existing roads and intersections as well as shared paths and pedestrian paths when required.
