Multiplex to deliver $126m tower on VIC's Collins Square development

PlantMiner   |   July 13, 2017

The fifth and final commercial office tower at the Walker Corporation's $2.5 billion Collins Square development located at 727 Collins Street in Melbourne’s CBD has been awarded to Multiplex, a leading global contractor.

The $126 million tower will span 33-levels and provide a total net lettable area of approximately 40,000 square metres of commercial office space.

The final tower will feature high quality office spaces and a light-filled spacious entry and public circulation space through an architectural curtain wall facade, designed by high-profile architects Woods Bagot.

Work is set to commence immediately with Multiplex completing the 22-level Tower 4 in November 2016, and Tower 5 scheduled for completion in October, 2018.

“We are delighted to be appointed to deliver the fifth and final office tower at Collins Square, on the back of successfully completing Tower 4 late last year. It is a market leading commercial development providing much-needed new commercial space in Melbourne’s CBD and complementing the surrounding streetscapes,” said Graham Cottam, Regional Managing Director of Multiplex Victoria.

The Collins Square development spans an entire city block and consists of five commercial office buildings that provide a combined total of more than 200,000 square metres of net lettable area, which makes the square one of the largest commercial office development in Australia.

Collins Square has a Green Star Design and As Built v3 Rating in addition to a NABERS Energy 5 Star Rating due to its integration of a Tri-Generation system for producing powder; along with a rainwater harvesting system and water efficient fixtures and fittings.

In the past, Multiplex has completed multiple commercial projects across Melbourne including Cbus Properties Medibank office at 720 Bourke Street, Queensland Investment Corporation's development in Collins Street and National Australia Bank’s building at 700 Bourke Street.
