PACT Construction has secured two contracts worth $37.7 million and $11.3 million respectively.
The larger contract of the two secured is to build the City of Belmont’s new Faulkner Civic Community Centre.
The second contract Pact was awarded is to build stage two of the new Forrestdale South West Primary School.
The new community centre will be situated near the council offices within Belmont’s Faulkner Civic Precinct and will house multiple services.
Belmont’s existing library and senior citizens centre will be expanded and upgraded through the build.
In addition to the upgrade, the new community centre will now include a museum to showcase Belmont’s history, a cafe, a short-term creche and office spaces for community service providers.
According to the business plan, the office space will be a “colocation and ‘hub’ of targeted non-for-profit organisations addressing the current gaps such as mental health, alcohol and drugs in service delivery.”
The project has been partially funded by the federal government and Lotterywest with grants worth $9.7 million and $3.8 million.
The construction of the basement car park facilities will also be included in Pact’s contract who was selected as Belmont’s preferred tenderer for the community centre in November last year.
Works are expected to be completed by the end of 2019.
For the primary school contract, Pact says its work on Forrestdale South West will include the construction of eight single-storey buildings which includes 180 tonnes of steelwork across a 39-week period.
