As part of a joint Road Blitz, the Australian and Victorian Governments will be upgrading the Warrandyte Five Ways intersection to help improve safety for thousands of local motorists each day while also driving down congestion.
Big Build Roads is now seeking community feedback to help shape the design and planning for upgrades to the Ringwood-Warrandyte Road, Croydon Road, Husseys Lane and Brumbys Road intersection. This consultation period is open for submissions until 7 December 2025.
“We’re getting on with the planning work needed to fix one of Warrandyte’s most challenging intersection – improving safety and reducing congestion for everyone who uses it,” Minister for Roads and Road Safety Melissa Horne said.
“Locals know how frustrating this intersection can be during peak hours – this is a crucial first step toward a safer, more efficient connection for our community,” Federal Member for Deakin Matt Gregg said.

More than 8,000 vehicles use this intersection each day, and this upgrade will make it safer and more efficient for all road users.
Community input will help Big Build Roads better understand how people use the intersection as well as what improvements are needed the most.
Planning activities have commenced including traffic analysis, design development and on-site investigations. These works will help inform the team of local conditions.
Temporary lane closures and reduced speed limits may be required at times, but traffic disruption will be minimised wherever possible.
Initial planning is anticipated to be completed next year.
Residents and local businesses can have their say online or by speaking directly with the project team at Riverlea Estate cellar door at 485 Ringwood-Warrandyte Road on 30 November from 10am to 3pm.
“This project is important in making sure locals can get home safer and quicker. I encourage everyone in the community to get involved and have their say,” Federal Member for Menzies Gabriel Ng said.
“This is great news for Warrandyte and surrounding suburbs. The planning process will help ensure future upgrades improve safety, accessibility and travel times for everyone who lives and works in the area,” VIC Member for North Eastern Metropolitan Region Sonja Terpstra said.
