The conference space will be operated by the Spotless Group – under their EPICURE brand – who will be focusing on building an events base which includes exhibitions, performances and weddings as well as conventions, community events and galas.
“Without a doubt, this is one of the biggest projects in the history of Ballarat. We’re proud to deliver this redevelopment and revitalise the heart of the city while protecting its historical heritage and charm,” said Minister for Regional Development Jaala Pulford.
The Victorian Government has committed $25 million to this project from its Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund.
Construction will be done in stages in order to minimise disruptions to local residents and commuters.
Works are expected to commence in the second half of 2017 and up to 140 jobs will be supported during construction as well as 30 ongoing jobs once the project is completed.
Concept plans for the project are still available for viewing and comment here until 22nd of January 2017.
