The search for a construction partner for Stage 1 of the Malaga Sports Precinct has commenced with the Western Australian Government opening Expressions of Interest (EOIs).

This landmark project is anticipated to transform sporting infrastructure in Perth’s growing north-eastern corridor.

The EOI process will help the State Government identify suitably qualified construction partners who can progress to the formal tender stage.

The first stage of the Malaga Sports Precinct development will deliver dedicated purpose-built facilities for a variety of sporting codes, including rugby league, rugby union and AFL.

The new sporting precinct will be strategically located adjacent to the new Malaga METRONET station and close to the Perth Film Studios.

The Malaga Sports Precinct will leverage the Western Australian Government’s significant transport infrastructure investment to create a connected sporting hub that is accessible via public transport from across the metropolitan area.

“Stage 1 of the Malaga Sports Precinct will deliver critical infrastructure and incredible facilities for both professional athletes and grassroots community sport.

“This represents a strategic investment in our sporting future – we’re not just building infrastructure; we’re creating high performance facilities and pathways for the next generation of Western Australian athletes.

“This project capitalises on the WA Government’s significant METRONET investment, while creating world-class sporting infrastructure in Perth’s fastest-growing corridor, supporting our State’s growing population and sporting aspirations,” Sport and Recreation Minister Rita Saffioti said.

In addition, $20 million has been allocated to finalise concept design and commence site investigations, to ensure the precinct meets the long-term needs of the community. This funding is part of the $322 million investment for more sporting and community infrastructure in the 2025-26 State Budget.

More details on the Expressions of Interest process can be found on the Tenders WA website.
